Wastewater Industry

New Zealand’s wastewater industries are growing throughout the country. There are now an estimated 329 publicly owned wastewater treatment plants.  

Wastewater treatment is the process of removing contaminants from wastewater, primarily from household sewage. It can also include physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove these contaminants and produce environmentally safer treated wastewater.
